The Golden Rose Stakes is a relatively new racing event compared to other events in Australia. The 1,400 meter sprint is held regularly at the Rosehill Racecourse and it is the richest race event among the events in the Spring Carnival of Sydney with a $1 million prize money. Mostly three year old sprinters come to compete in this race and it being a set weight under race regulations geldings and colts are made to carry 55.5kg, while fillies are required to carry 53.5kg. The next Golden Rose Stakes will be held on the 10th of September 2011 and a lot of familiar runners are set to compete in this prestigious event.

Rosehill races are held in the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, which is located in the suburban area of Rosehill in Western Sydney, New South Wales. About The Rosehill Race Track
Twenty minutes from the center of Sydney lies a racecourse which some consider a thing of beauty. The Rosehill Gardens is a beautiful racecourse that houses the Sydney Turf Club and is host to a spring racing carnival and an autumn carnival. The surface track measures about a 408 metre straight with a circumference of 2048 metres; the track also has sweeping turns and it runs in a clockwise direction.
Rosehill Gardens was built in 1885 with a budget total of £17,000 for the construction. The result was four training tracks with two of them built with cinder tracks, one with sand, and one with grass. Rosehill has a large majestic grandstand, a beautiful pavilion, a seating deck large enough to seat hundreds and a spacious deck near the racetrack. There are also corporate boxes, restaurants, three-tiered stands with bars and of course betting facilities.
Rosehill Race Events
Rosehill's racecourse hosts about eight Group 1 race meetings, 16 Group 2 race meetings, and eight Group 3 race meetings. Included in this roster is the Kingston Town Stakes. The Autumn Racing Carnival is replete with activities as well with 18 Group status events held for three consecutive Saturdays. With a total winnings of $11 million the best jockeys, trainers and horses from every corner of the nation come out to compete in this event.
The main event of this carnival is the Golden Slipper Stakes which is a 1200m race with a prize money of $3.5 million. In this event only two year old horses can compete.

Ajax Stakes—a $150,00 Group 2 Quality Handicap race with a distance of 1500m
Apollo Stakes—a $250,00 Group 2 weight-for-age with a distance of 1400m
The BMW—A $2.25 million Group 1 weight-for-age race with a distance of 2400m
Coolmore Stud Classic—a $600,000 Group 1 Quality race for mares and fillies with a distance of 1500m
George Ryder Stakes—a $400,000 Group 1 weight-for-age race with a distance of 1500m
Golden Slipper Stakes—a $3.5 million race, which makes it the richest horse race in Australia, for two year old horses.
Queen of the Turf Stakes—a $400,000 Group 1 weight-for-age race for mares and fillies with a distance of 1500m
Ranvet Stakes—a $250,000 Group 2 weight-for-age race with a distance of 2000m
Rosehill Guineas—a $2.25 million Group 1 weight-for-age race with a distance of 2000m for three year old horses.

Gloaming Stakes—a $250,000 Group 3 set-weight race with a distance of 1800m for three year old horses
Golden Rose—a $1 million Group 1 set-weight race with a distance of 1400m for three year old horses
Hill Stakes—a $150,000 Group 2 weight-for-age race with a distance of 1900m
Tea Rose Stakes—a $150,000 Group 2 set-weight race with a distance of 1500m for three year old fillies
Theo Marks Stakes—a $200,000 Group 2 Quality Handicap race with a distance of 1300m for three year old horses.
